The Red Tide Bloom which has affected a large area of the Gulf Coast of Florida is present in the Venice area. Some days are better than others. The Sarasota Scullers have been practicing both on land and on the water during the bloom. We are monitoring the bloom, and we are confident that the venue will be safe for the regatta.
As we the race date approaches, we will continue to monitor the Red Tide.

The war is long over, but the waterway is maintained for the pleasure of boaters.
In recent years, bike paths for use by both hikers and bikers have been built along both banks of the waterway.
