Red Tide Update: Battle of the Bridges is ON!

The Red Tide Bloom which has affected a large area of the Gulf Coast of Florida is present in the Venice area.  Some days are better than others.  The Sarasota Scullers have been practicing both on land and on the water during the bloom.  We are monitoring the bloom, and we are confident that the venue will be safe for the regatta.

As we the race date approaches, we will continue to monitor the Red Tide.

VENUE: Venice Intracoastal Waterway

The Intracoastal Waterway that passes through Venice Florida was built to keep American shipping safe from ocean storms and from coastal attack during World War II.

The war is long over, but the waterway is maintained for the pleasure of boaters.

In recent years, bike paths for use by both hikers and bikers have been built along both banks of the waterway.

Three Bridges

The Battle of the Bridges Regatta will be a 5,000m true head race.  Rowers will navigate under three bridges during the regatta.  More details to come!

As with all regattas, The Battle of the Bridges Regatta will be safe and secure venue.  We are working the United States Coast Guard, the City of Venice, Sarasota County, SANCA, and many other organizations to ensure the safest course possible.  More details to come.

USRowing Sanctioned Event

As a registered regatta with USRowing means that Battle of the Bridges Regatta is officially and nationally recognized as a safe and fair event, meeting the highest standards for American regattas.
